Several times a year I take up residence in a city I love: a good suite, a short list of evenings, a small number of introductions. For a few days the distance between us is not yours to solve, because I have already solved it.

How a residency works
A residency is announced in advance: the city, the dates, and how many evenings the diary will hold there. I stay in a suite chosen the way I choose everything, and it doubles as the loveliest possible address for our evening. Bookings begin at four hours, at my usual rates; screening and a deposit apply exactly as at home. Evenings are few by design and go in order of arrival.
The shortlist
Brussels and Antwerp sit an easy train ride away and deserve more elegant company than they get. London is London, and always worth the Eurostar. Zurich rewards the unhurried. Announcements appear on this page, in the Journal, and on my Tryst profile's touring list; if your city belongs on the shortlist, the enquiry form is how it gets there.

How do I secure an evening during a residency?
The way everything here is secured: a thoughtful note, screening once if we have not met, and a deposit. Residencies carry a short list of evenings and they are answered in order of arrival, so the early note wins.
Do the rates change when you travel?
No. The rates on The Hours travel with me; a residency simply removes the distance. Evenings during a residency start at four hours, and the suite is already mine. There is nothing left for you to arrange.
My city is never on the list.
Then write and say so. Residencies are planned around gravity: enough interest in one place, and the place makes the list. And for anything that cannot wait for a residency, Elsewhere exists for exactly that.

Tell me which city, and which evening.
Write with your city, the hours you have in mind and a few lines about yourself. When a residency is announced there, you will already be at the front of it.
Short lists reward early letters.
